Arab Work Organisation commends setting up of labour courts

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The participants at the Arab Labour Organisation Conference, being held in Kuwait, have praised the UAE's experience in tackling labour disputes, citing the setting up of specialised labour courts and coordination between the executive and judicial authorities.

Humaid bin Dimas Al Suwaidi, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Labour Affairs, said the compliment reflects the keenness of the leadership to ensure the workers' and employers' rights by guaranteeing the right of litigation to the parties involved in production.

Al Suwaidi, who was elected to chair the committee on policies and mechanisms for the settlement of labour disputes and its role in the stability of labour relations, briefed the conference on the labour courts since their inception in the UAE in 2006 in line with the directives of the leadership to ensure the right of litigation to all dispute parties.

The conference stressed the need to spread the culture of dialogue on a larger scale among three production stakeholders, and the establishment of database or an observatory to provide statistical data and other themes, recommended by the committee.
