Google offers mobile communications service in US

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Google on Wednesday launched a new subscription mobile service that aims to keep users in the United States connected to phone and data services everywhere they go, according to dpa.

The fledgling mobile communications network, called Project Fi,
offers traditional mobile phone service as well as 'seamless'
connectivity for phones, tablets or laptops, switching between Wi-Fi
and mobile data networks, Google said in a blog post.

The announcement confirms months of rumours that Google was planning
an entry into the US mobile carrier market in partnership with
established mobile carriers.

Project Fi will use an existing 'network of networks' hosted by US
mobile carriers T-Mobile and Sprint, Google said.

Coverage is limited initially to Google's Nexus 6 phones, Google
said. But those subscribers will also be able to connect and call
using iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and Chromebook devices through
Google Hangout.

The service is priced at 20 dollars monthly for worldwide calling
coverage, plus 10 dollars per gigabyte of data used.
