Egypt urges Yemenis to silence guns, seek settlement

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egypt urged Yemeni warring parties to reach a compromise solution, implement "agreements and commitments that have been made," hastily stop violence and resolve differences through dialogue as well as abstain from provocative actions.

This came in a press release by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, issued late on Tuesday, after declaration of end of the Operation "Decisive Storm" and beginning of "Operation Restoration of Hope." Egypt asserts importance of implementing UN Security Council resolution 2216, urges all Yemeni parties, "in particular the Houthis, abide by the resolution and refrain from further unilateral actions that could undermine the political transition in Yemen," the official statement said.

The Security Council member states (minus Russia) have demanded that the Houthis immediately and unconditionally end violence, withdraw their militiamen from all areas they have seized, including the capital Sanaa.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry's press release added that Cairo will continue coordinating with its allies to restore stability to Yemen and protect Arab national security.
