Russia welcomes end of "Operation Decisive Storm" in Yemen
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russia has welcomed an announcement of ending the "Operation Decisive Storm" in Yemen, expressing its support for preserving this Arab country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The command of the Saudi-led coalition had announced late Tuesday that it achieved its targets against Houthi militias in Yemen and would start a new action called "Operation Renewal of Hope".
Since the outbreak of the conflict in Yemen, Moscow called for halting necessarily the bloodshed and finding a political solution to the crisis, said a statement by Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
The statement underlined the significance of the UN-brokered political dialogue among Yemeni powers, with the aim of achieving a national consensus and helping Yemenis determine ways of developing their country.
It stressed that Moscow will continue backing efforts aiming to restore peace nationwide Yemen and guarantee its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Saudi-led coalition said late Tuesday that the "Operation Renewal of Hope" aims to launch a political process as soon as possible according to the UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, and output of the national dialogue.
