Pakistani PM, Army Chief to visit Saudi Arabia Thurs.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, along with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, will pay a day-long visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, said state-owned Radio Pakistan.

The decision regarding the visit was taken on Wednesday at a high-level meeting to discuss Yemen's situation chaired by Prime Minister Sharif in the federal capital Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Pakistani Premier welcomed Saudi Arabia's decision to halt air strikes against Houthis in Yemen and appreciated Riyadh for pursuing political course to find a solution to the Yemeni crisis.

Sharif is expected to hold talks with the top Saudi leadership on the Yemeni situation and express solidarity and support to Saudi Arabia on behalf of Pakistani nation.

Defense Minister of Pakistan, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Secretary will also accompany the Prime Minister.

The second visit to Saudi Arabia in two months by the premier is scheduled at a time when the Saudi-led coalition against the Houthi militias announced the end of the "Operation Decisive Storm" and the launch of the "Operation Renewal of Hope" in Yemen.
