Abu Dhabi's inflation rate increases 1.4 percent in Q1

(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi's inflation rate increased by 1.4 percent in the first quarter of the year against the previous quarter, according to the Statistical Centre in Abu Dhabi, Gulf News reported.

The most prominent Consumer Price Index (CPI) was the 6 percent seen in the housing, water, electricity and gas sectors, while the furnishings household equipment and maintenance witnessed 2.3 percent increase.

The upsurge in prices overlaps with the tremendous success that some economic and business activities are operating in the emirate, which in turn facilitate further demand for produce and services.

The Consumer Price Index for the second quarter is forecast to be 1.3 percent added to the first quarter, the Statistical Centre in Abu Dhabi said.
