(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, announced a traffic diversion on the road stretching from the interchange opposite Al Wajba Palace and Garrafat Al Rayyan roundabout (also known as Qatar Academy roundabout) effective from tomorrow.
A three-lane alternative road will be provided south of the existing Dukhan Road to ease traffic flow. The diversion will also include the opening of a signal U-turn on the alternative road heading north of the existing Dukhan Road towards the Interchange opposite Al Wajba Palace. This u-turn will ease the traffic flow for vehicles heading to Al Ruwad Street to avoid them having to use Al Wajba Palace Interchange, Ashghal said yesterday.
As part of Stage 2, Al Rayyan Road will be closed in both directions from Bani Hajer roundabout to Al Wajba roundabout (also known as Qtel roundabout) which has been converted to a signal-controlled intersection.
Motorists coming from the interchange opposite Al Wajba Palace towards Bani Hajer roundabout must use the alternative route to reach Garrafat Al Rayyan roundabout (also known as Qatar Academy roundabout).
Motorists heading from Al Rayyan Road t in the direction of Bani Hajer roundabout towards the Bani Hajer residential area should use the alternative road south of Dukhan Road to reach the Garrafat Al Rayyan roundabout, and then they should take a U-turn and return to Bani Hajer roundabout and take a right.
Four signalized junctions will be used during the diversions to control traffic flow and enhance traffic safety for motorists using the alternative roads, said Ashghal.
