Ooredoo doubles speeds for Fibre users

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Ooredoo has announced that it has provided a free boost to upload speeds for all Ooredoo Fibre customers on every Ooredoo consumer and business Fibre plan.

The speed increase, which doubles customers' current upload speeds, has been rolled out this week as the company continues to offer a bigger, faster network for all of Qatar, according to a statement issued yesterday.

Following the announcement, residential customers using the 10Mbps plan, who currently have upload speeds of up to 1.25Mbps, will now enjoy upload speeds of 2.5Mbps.

Business Fibre customers on the 10 Mbps plan, who currently get upload speeds of up to 2.5Mbps, will now experience upload speeds of up to 5Mbps.

The double speed boost is valid for all Fibre plans. Customers on the top-end 100 Mbps will see a major leap, with upload speeds of up to 25Mbps for residential Fibre users and 50Mbps for business customers.

This upload speed upgrade comes just six months after Ooredoo announced a free speed upgrade for all 1Mbps and 10Mbps home Fibre plans.

With the ongoing Fibre speed boosts in Qatar, Ooredoo is enabling customers to enjoy an enhanced digital lifestyle and also contributing to the growth of the knowledge-based economy in support of Qatar National Vision 2030, the statement adds.

Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of Community & Public Relations at Ooredoo, said: "Ooredoo believes in the life-enhancing features that Fibre technology can have for the whole community. This speed boost is not just about updating our customer experience and network, but also ensuring that we're ready to support the next generation of Fibre-based solutions, such as personal cloud services."

The Ooredoo Fibre speed upgrade is free and permanent, and customers are being automatically upgraded, with no requirement for any customer action.

Customers who want to join the "Fibre revolution" can view the Fibre availability map on Ooredoo's website. The map allows customers to check if they are in a Fibre-ready "Green" area and shows customers how to apply for a Fibre upgrade.
