QatarDebate issues judging criteria


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) QatarDebate a member of Qatar Foundation will launch its third edition of the international universities Arabic Debating championship on Sunday.

On the judging mechanisms and methods of computing the results, Faizeh Abdelrazeq, Head of the Arabic programme at QatarDebate, said that there will be three judges allocated for each debate room.

She explained that the winning team in the debate is one that provides the most powerful positions and arguments, and refutes the positions and arguments of the opposing team, indicating that there are clear criteria for judging and standards that should be met. The criteria comprises of: content 40 points, method 40 points and strategy 20 points.

Preparations for the third International Universities Arabic Debating Championship have been completed.

Hassan Suleiman, Business Support Manager at QatarDebate said that the Business Support Department at QatarDebate Center works with all its energy to provide high-quality services to the delegations participating in the championship. He also pointed out the completion of the arrangements for all delegations including accommodation and transportation.

Maher Rajah , Debates coach at QatarDebate said that the competition aims to deepen the links between the participating universities in the areas of education, culture and social affairs, noting that the engagement generated by the championship will serve the objective of thriving and spreading the Arabic language.
