(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, on Tuesday, said that democracy cannot be promoted without having powerful and effective political parties.
At a meeting with secretaries general of Jordan's political parties, Ensour stressed the importance of promoting democracy, after it has proven to be the only choice for nations. And democracy can only come through ballot boxes, he added.
Ensour's meeting with political parties is part of the government's approach to consult with all civil society institutions on local and international issues.
Ensour praised the lower house of parliament's achievements, in terms of legislation passed. By the end of next week, before parliament goes in recess, 62 legislation would have been passed.
The prime minister also spoke about legislation regulating political life, such as the political parties, decentralization and municipalities draft laws.
