(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein underscored the need to transform the quality of care received by the people they serve in the face of unique challenges facing the delivery of health care in countries all over the world.
In her speech at the opening of the fifth International Jordanian Nursing Conference Wednesday on the theme "Transforming quality nursing care: Promise and Potential", HRH said that the medical profession is full of quiet heroes, men and women who do their extraordinary work each and every day, where they meet the needs of their patients in various ways across the health care spectrum.
"It teaches us that when quiet heroes work together towards a greater cause, they can accomplish great things," she said.
The title of this conference, the princess said, emphasizes a "Promise" to transform the quality of care received by the people you serve in times of unique challenges facing the delivery of health care in countries all over the world.
"Your promise to learn, and commit to act, comes at a time of uncertainties, threats and challenges to the quality of care; some of which include the aging population, chronic illnesses, mental health conditions and the emergence of new diseases," HRH said, adding, "The political instability in many countries around us is resulting in hundreds of thousands of refugees in these areas who are also in need of health care services." "As frontline health care providers you have been playing a visible role in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)," she explained.
Yet, the Post 2015 MDGs carries 17 new goals which will again require a new level of commitment and a bigger promise to stand up for the well-being of the people, HRH added.
The conference aims to explore innovations of health care professionals towards excellence in enhancing quality health care.
Around 500 health and nursing experts are participating in the two-day conference, where they will share their experiences as well as discuss the huge burden of Syrian refugees placed on the health care services in the country.
