Nahyan bin Mubarak receives Australian MPs

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Thanks to its open and tolerant policies, the UAE has maintained high rankings in international indexes of education, health, welfare and lifestyle, and technology, said Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, during a meeting with a six-member delegation of Australian Parliament.

''These policies have brought about a sense of security, safety and stability for the UAE people and resident expatriates who hail from over 200 nationalities,'' Sheikh Nahyan noted.

He said the UAE-Australia ties were growing steadily, indicating that the two friendly countries are linked through more than 130 air flights weekly for the purposes of tourism, trade and education.

Sheikh Nahyan also spoke to the Australian MPs, who represent the government and opposition, about daunting challenges facing the humanity in areas of water scarcity, poverty, ignorance, climate change, diseases and epidemics, and environmental concerns.

Young minds, he said, should be qualified to address and tackle these woes.
