GCC, Arab world firm on finding political solution in Yemen - Bahrain FM


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Khalifa asserted Tuesday on keenness of GCC countries and Arab world to reach a political solution in Yemen, stressing the Yemeni issue is vital to security and stability of Arabian Peninsula.

Sheikh Khaled made the remarks to reporters on the sideline of a ceremony hosted by the foreign ministry marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Singapore.

The minister said situation in Yemen should return to normal once objectives of the military operation were achieved.

Sheikh Khaled added that restoration of stability is important so that the Yemenis return to their political process and all must seek the next political steps, based on the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism as well as outcome of national dialogue under auspices of United Nations.

Regarding the upcoming Camp David summit meeting between US President Barack Obama and GCC leaders, Sheikh Khaled said that it is a very important meeting for the two sides and the agenda is expected to cover all aspects of US-Gulf relations, adding that such relationship with the United States is historic and evolving for the better with time.

Regarding Iran, the minister stressed that countries in the region is looking forward to a good relationship with Iran.
