(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 2: The parliamentary Finance and Economic Affairs Committee has approved the proposed amendments to the Capital Markets Authority Law. Committee Rapporteur MP Mohammed Al-Jabri said the government reviewed the law based on applicable international legislation affirming the amendment bill will be included in the agenda of the parliamentary session slated for Tuesday.
On the other hand MP Mansour Al-Zufairi has lauded the decision of State Minister for Municipality Affairs Essa Al-Kandari to form a team to look into the issue of bachelors living in private residential areas. It has been reported the team will work for six months under the leadership of Deputy Director General of the Regulation Sector Ahmad Al-Manfoohi with representatives from various ministries as members.
Al-Zufairi considers the elimination of bachelors in private residential areas a national duty; especially in Jahra and Farwaniya governorates as the phenomenon poses danger to the society. He said the situation in many private residential areas in Jahra Governorate has been deteriorating due to the proliferation of bachelors. He pointed out the phenomenon has become a ticking time bomb which must be dealt with strictly. He then stressed the need to find plausible solutions to curb the rising number of bachelors in private residential areas.
He argued the minister's decision is good but it should be balanced through the construction of workers residential cities. He asserted this issue along with widespread illegal commercial activities must be controlled through the concerted efforts of all relevant institutions. He attributed the rising crime rate to this phenomenon indicating the best solution is to construct residential cities for the workers.
He went on to say that the presence of bachelors in private residential areas in Jahra has become a nightmare for the residents due to the emergence of various problems like the high crime rate traffic congestion and increased pressure on public utilities. He called on all the concerned authorities to closely follow up the implementation of the decision to get rid of bachelors in private residential areas in order to prevent recurrence of the phenomenon and the corresponding problems.
Meanwhile MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji has forwarded questions to acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Anas Al-Saleh about the news on the confiscation of a liquor consignment at the Free Trade Zone. He said that according to the report the Interior Ministry confiscated the liquor consignment outside the customs zone and that the shipment passed through Shuwaikh Port as per delivery Permit Number DO / 26016 / SWKIS dated March 8 2015 issued by the Free Trade Zone. He asked for pertinent details like the name of the importing company list of workers on duty at the time the consignment reached the customs warehouse in the Free Trade Zone and names of those peoin charge of security and safety at the time the consignment was sent out.
He wants to know if the container was taken out under customs Statement Number 80/720 without inspecting it on Jan 1 2014 and the truck returned empty on Sept 3 2014. If the answer is yes he wants a copy of the bill of lading name of the truck driver name of the person in charge from the General Customs Department who allowed passage of the truck without inspection copy of investigation results if any actions taken and copy of correspondence with the Interior Ministry regarding the incident.
