Jordan King reaffirms support to Iraq's political process


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) King Abdullah II, of Jordan, on Monday renewed the support of his country to the political process in neighboring Iraq.

During his meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Saleem Al-Jubouri, Iraqi Vice President Osama Al-Nujaifi and Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Al-Mutlaq, the King said the process that involves the broad political spectrum in Iraq could contribute to national concord and the rebuilding of a strong and coherent country.

King Abdullah II said Jordan is committed to backing up the sovereignty, security, stability and territorial integrity of Iraq, according to a statement by the Royal Court.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments of the security and political situations in Iraq as well as the efforts of the Iraqi government to fight the terrorist organizations.

The senior Iraqi officials briefed the King on the latest developments in their country and appreciated the supportive stance of the Kingdom of Jordan towards their country, the statement added.
