Saudi-led forces use 'banned weapons' in Yemen: Houthis

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A Houthi spokesman has accused a Saudi-led Arab coalition of using banned weapons in bombing Yemen.

"[Saudi-led forces] used banned weapons in bombing Fag Attan district in Sanaa," Sharaf Ghaleb Luqman was quoted as saying by the Houthis-controlled Sabaa news agency.

Saudi-led warplanes reportedly launched a wave of airstrikes on Fag Attan district on Monday.

According to the pro-Houthi Al-Massira television channel, at least 30 people were killed and 300 injured in the attacks.

"[The raids] have caused massive destruction in the area," Luqman said.

Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies have been pounding positions held by the Shiite Houthi group since late last month.

Riyadh says its anti-Houthi campaign is in response to appeals by Yemen's embattled president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, for help against the Shiite group.

The Houthis, for their part, have described the Saudi-led offensive as unwarranted "Saudi-American aggression" against Yemen.
