Gold trader convicted of buying stolen jewellery


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Criminal Court is considering a lawsuit against a gold trader who purchased stolen jewellery and gold without confirming the identity of the seller as per the standard procedures to be adopted in the sale and purchase of used gold, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

The discrepancy was noticed by the inspectors of the authority concerned when they visited the shop. Some of the documents were missing.

Investigation revealed that some of the gold was stolen. The trader has been convicted of theft. The Public Prosecution has requested punishment for the theft of gold as stipulated under the law, the daily added.
