Oman ranked 63 on the list of most powerful passports


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) An Omani passport's power rank is 63 giving its holder access to 54 countries without an advance visa according to a new index.

The US and UK passports are the most powerful in the world giving its holders access to 147 countries.

Created by financial advisory firm Arton Capital the power index determines the ranking of a country by calculating how many countries passport holders can visit without an advance visa or by purchasing visa on arrival.

A passport from a country on good diplomatic terms with its peers is a powerful tool allowing holders to travel across borders with ease.

Arton Capital which specialises in helping wealthy individuals obtain multiple citizenships has put together a ranking of the world's most powerful passports.

In GCC UAE tops the chart with a rank of 47 and giving access to 72 countries without the need of an advance visa. Qatar is next at 52 with access to 66 countries followed by Kuwait with access to 64 countries. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are ranked 57 with access to 61 countries.

Developed countries with advanced economies fare the best.

Tied for first place are US and UK passports.

France South Korea and Germany are second with access to 145 countries followed by Italy and Sweden in third; Denmark Singapore Finland Japan Luxembourg and the Netherlands in fourth and Switzerland in fifth.

Hong Kong comes in at 11 Argentina at 16 while Brazil ranks 17th and Mexico 22nd.

A Russian passport provides 98 country options.

Passports from the world's most populous country China offer quick access to 74 countries.

Indian passport holders get only 59 easy destinations.
