(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would meet Monday with President Reuven Rivlin to request additional days to form the new government, the premier's office said Sunday.
According to the release, Netanyahu will ask Rivlin to extend the deadline for the formation of a coalition government for additional two weeks.
Israeli law allows the prime minister to request an additional 14 days after the expiration of the initial 28 days to form the government.
Netanyahu's right-wing Likud Party won 30 seats in the Knesset election, while its closest rival, the Zionist Union alliance, won 24 seats.
Netanyahu had already won the support of 67 Knesset members to form the next government.
Yet, no agreement was signed yet to form a coalition government despite lengthy meetings with leaders of right-wing Shas party and centrist Kulanu party.
