Man jailed for selling hashish in Qatar


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A Gulf national has been sentenced to 10 years in jail and a fine of QR400,000 by a Doha Criminal Court for illicit drug trade and use, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

He was arrested in a sting operation by the Drug Prevention Department of the Ministry of Interior. When the department got information about the activities of the accused, an undercover policeman approached him to buy some hashish for QR2,000.

The two agreed to meet in the Hilal area in Doha, where the accused handed two small packets of the illicit drug to his customer and took payment.

The accused was arrested on the spot. More hashish was seized from him.
