Car dealer fined for violating law in Doha

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) An auto dealer was fined QR50,000 by a Doha misdemeanour court for violating the consumer protection law, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

The dealer violated his obligations to the customer by not abiding by the terms and conditions of the warranty period of a new vehicle sold to the customer, according to the court.

The customer had sent the under-warranty vehicle to the dealer's service centre after a sudden breakdown. However, the dealer had failed to repair the car within the 15-day period stipulated in the law and had not provided the customer with an alternative vehicle either.

Accordingly, the customer took the issue to the Consumer Protection Department.
