Qatar- Organisers expect 30,000 spectators for Disney on Ice show

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) "Disney On Ice presents Princesses & Heroes," the latest ice spectacular in Doha, is expected to attract more than 30,000 Disney fans from Qatar and the GCC, organisers said.

"We expect another sellout show as in the previous years," Sport and Entertainment Solutions Founder (SES) and CEO, Ali Haidary, said at a press meet yesterday at the Inter-Continental Doha The City.

Like in the past two years, Disney on Ice is organised by SES, brought to Doha by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), and produced by Feld Entertainment.

Disney's royal sisters Anna and Elsa from the hit movie Frozen made a special appearance at the press conference yesterday, ahead of their ice debut in Doha set to take place at the Qatar National Convention Centre from May 27 to 30.

Haidary said, "Disney On Ice presents Princesses & Heroes," which will have eight shows for four days, is anticipated to witness 32,000 to 35,000 spectators. This is because of a unique mix of old and new stories coupled with superb technical elements.

"The spectators will see something completely new. We have the classic tales such as Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and Cinderella and then the new and dynamic Frozen, the most successful animated movie of all time, which everyone is excited to see," said Haidary.

"Doha is very important to us because this is the first city in the Middle East that we hosted a Disney on Ice show and for us it is always a pleasure and an honour to always come back here," he said, adding the success of Disney shows in Doha has been made possible because of the continuous support of the QTA.

QTA Director of Public Relations & Communication, Saif Al Kuwari, said hosting Disney On Ice is part of the QTA's strategy to diversify its entertainment programme and cement Qatar's position as a preferred tourist destination for the whole family in the region.

"We believe that hosting such an international entertainment programme matches Qatar's vision in building tourism, making the country a tourist destination in the Gulf and other parts of the world," he said, lauding the success of the previous Disney shows in the last two years.

"QTA considers families as a main segment in Arab community. We always seek to support the private sector so that it can provide families with a number of entertainment programmes and initiatives," he said, adding QTA will be announcing a rich lineup of events for the Eid and Summer festivals.

Horacio Renna, Feld Entertainment Vice-President for Europe, Middle East & Africa, said the upcoming show will be one of the best they have brought to Qatar and that people here can expect bigger shows in the future.
