Customs arrests Indian with valuable watches cellphones fake batteries


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 18: An Indian expatriate was arrested at Kuwait International Airport for attempting to smuggle valuable watches and cell phones and fake cell phone batteries into the country reports Al-Rai daily. According to sources a member of the Customs Union and head of the shift on duty tried to help the Indian expatriate who had arrived from a GCC country to bypass the baggage inspection section. However the attempt was thwarted when a customs officer demanded the suspect to return to the inspection section for the checking of his luggage.

The inspection of his luggage revealed valuable watches and cell phones and fake cell phone batteries which he was planning to smuggle into the country. Sources revealed that the member of the Customs Union was aware of the time of arrival of the suspect and was trying to help him. The suspect was referred to the concerned authorities with the confiscated items for further investigations while the responsible official will be interrogated.

Meanwhile two unidentified expatriate were arrested at Kuwait International Airport for fighting with the customs officers reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources the two expatriates became angry when the customs officer demanded to inspect their luggage a second time after the alarm of the detection device rang. The suspects started fighting with the officers and 15 other officers rushed to solve the problem. The suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Mandoub being sought: The Egyptian mandoub of a company in Maidan Hawally has been accused by the company owner of stealing KD 3580 and running away reports Al-Rai daily. The company owner filed a case of betrayal of trust against the suspect and investigations are ongoing to find and arrest him.
