Africa leaders in Ethiopia to discuss religion, politics


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The presidents of Mali, Rwanda and Somalia's Puntland State arrived in the western Ethiopian city of Bahar Dar late on Friday to participate in the fourth Tana Forum on Security in Africa, slated to kick off on Saturday.

The forum will be held on the banks of Lake Tana € roughly 570km northwest of capital Addis Ababa € and will last for two days, informed sources told The Anadolu Agency.

They added that six African heads of state and prime ministers would take part in the forum, along with more than 200 stakeholders from governments, civil society, policymaking circles and academic institutions.

The forum is being held under the banner, "Secularism of the state and politicization of religion in Africa."

The forum was founded in 2009 in line with the Tripoli Declaration, which came out of an African summit held the same year.
