(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkish Airlines has suspended all flights to Yemen's Sanaa and Aden airports until June 1, the company announced on Wednesday.
"The flights have been suspended due to the ongoing political unrest in the country," Turkey's flag-carrier said in a statement on its official website.
Yemen has been in turmoil since last September, when Houthi insurgents overran the capital Sanaa, going on to seize other parts of the fractious country.
This has brought the group into conflict with local Sunni tribes and al-Qaeda.
Since March 25, a Saudi-led air campaign has pounded Houthi positions across Yemen. The UN says more than 700 people have been killed since March 26 but the death toll is thought to be higher.
Riyadh says the campaign is a response to appeals by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, currently in Saudi Arabia, to "save the people from the Houthi militias."
The Houthis have claimed the offensive is unwarranted "Saudi-American aggression."
