China's FDI surges 11.3 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said that foreign direct investment (FDI) into the county surged 11.3 percent on year in the first quarter of 2015, Xinhua reported.

The pace slowed from the 17 percent increase registered in January-February period of the same year, however, it far exceeded the annual growth rate posted for 2014 of 1.7 percent.

Service industry FDI totaled USD21.59 billion, up 24.1 percent, accounting for 61.9 percent of all FDI. The service, financial, distribution and transport services attracted the most investment.

Along with the FDI surge, the number of newly registered foreign-funded companies increased 22.4 percent in the first three months of the year, totaling 5,861, the data showed.
