11 rescued Pakistanis perform Umrah thank Saudi Arabia
(MENAFN- Arab News) Eleven Pakistanis were evacuated from Yemen on Tuesday and they left for home the next day after performing Umrah.
The group including women and children arrived at the Jazan port in the Pakistani naval ship PNS Shamsheer and left for Makkah by road. They left for Pakistan in a PIA flight on Wednesday evening.
The evacuated Pakistanis thanked Saudi Arabia for extending all possible cooperation and assistance. They were received by the Pakistan Consulate representative at Jazan port. As a goodwill gesture Saudi Arabia issued visa to the evacuees enabling them to perform Umrah.
The group thanked Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for their efforts in getting them out of the worn-torn country. They also thanked Consul General Aftab Ahmed Khokhar and his staff and the Pakistan Navy.
Sohail Ali Khan press consul at the Pakistan Consulate told Arab News that the group reached Karachi Wednesday evening.
He said that the consulate as per Sharif's instructions looked after the group and made their stay travel and transit comfortable.
Khan said that a delegation comprising Shahbaz Sharif chief minister of Punjab Province; Sartaj Aziz adviser to the prime minister on national security and foreign affairs; and Aijaz Ahmad Chaudhry foreign secretary arrived in Jeddah for consultations with senior Saudi officials on Wednesday. The delegation was to meet with Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal later.
