World’s Priciest Turquoise Exhibit at Dennis June Gallery Scottsdale   April 14 2015

Scottsdale AZ – BEHOLD THE WORLD’S PRICIEST TURQUOISE. Scratch that . . . BEHOLD the world’s most exclusive turquoise. Scratch that . . . BEHOLD the most storied turquoise gem in history.

Outcropped by erosion and first spotted in 1973 LANDER BLUE immediately elevated the American standard of gem quality turquoise. Dennis June’s American Indian Art gallery will feature a display on this incredible gemstone Lander Blue in an exclusive exhibition April 15th through May afternoon hours free admission at 7056 E Main St Scottsdale Az.

Born under a unique confluence of geology mineralogy and earth-plate tectonics the freshly exposed Lander Blue vein was first noticed near Indian Creek Nevada. It was not long before Rita Hapgood’s discovery was in full scale production under the experienced hands of turquoise moguls Marvin Syme Hank Dorian and Bill Johnson. Their legendary vision elevated the entire American turquoise world rescuing it from a 1970’s Hollywood-happy turquoise grab bag and elevating it to become the world-class gemstone it deserves to be. Turquoise. Lander Blue turquoise.

Sadly America’s turquoise mother lode was short-lived. After only a few months the Lander Blue turquoise vein pinched out limiting eventual production to a legendary 128 pounds. A hat mine! A flash in the pan! . . . no make that a lightning bolt! In turquoise parlance such production comes down to a paltry twenty thousand specimen a mere dot on the horizon of worldwide turquoise. That makes Lander Blue not only a supreme quality in its own right but also beyond scarce. More like rare.

As the trio of enterprising owners put their newly-found mine in high gear Lander Blue launched in at eight times the price of former turquoise champions such as Number Eight Blue Gem and Lone Mountain. Within months Lander Blue was selling at fifty dollars a carat an unheard of number in the 1970s. It was the first turquoise to break price barriers at one hundred two hundred and three hundred dollars per carat. Lander Blue continues to trade in its own stratosphere commanding upwards of five hundred dollars per carat for premium specimen trading almost exclusively among collectors high end dealers and their talented American Indian jewelers.

Online gem studies seem overrun with photos of Lander Blue’s rich royal blue colors and haunting spiderweb matrix. Under magnification the bleeding-nugget configuration of Lander Blue assures its sole status as “the world’s most exclusive turquoise” certainly the most expensive absolutely the most storied. Numerous specimen of genuine certified Lander Blue gems will be available at the Dennis June Gallery 7056 E Main St Scottsdale through May 15th.
