Moscow says military solution in Yemen "out of question"

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russia on Wednesday emphasized that a peaceful solution to the crisis in Yemen should be found for the interests of all Yemenis, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Moscow, as well as many other countries in the region, is convinced that a military solution for Yemen is out of the question," the statement reads.

The Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the UN would continue efforts to resolve the crisis.

On Tuesday, Russia abstained from a UNSC vote that led to blacklisting Ahmad Ali Saleh, son of Yemen's former president, and a Houthi leader, and effectively imposed an arms embargo on the Houthi militias.

The UNSC voted 14 in favor.
