(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani discussed on Wednesday with Yemeni Vice President and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah efforts to restore security and stability in Yemen.

The meeting also tackled efforts exerted by the Yemeni leadership to restore security and stability in Yemen and efforts to provide support and assistance to the Yemeni people, including the delivery of humanitarian aid to all Yemeni provinces in cooperation and coordination with regional and international humanitarian organizations, the GCC General Secretariat said in a statement.

The statement pointed out that Al-Zayani extended his congratulations to Bahah on the occasion of his appointment as the Yemeni Vice President, while retaining his position as prime minister, wishing him continued success in the new post, and to best serve the Yemeni people in such historic period in Yemen.

Recently, Bahah had sworn in front of Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi in the presence of a number of ministers, MPs and political leaders of Yemen in Riyadh Embassy.

Last night, Under Chapter VII, the UNSC adopted resolution 2216 demanding that all Yemeni parties, in particular the Houthis, to abide by the resolution and refrain from further unilateral actions that could undermine the political transition in Yemen.
