Saudi- Proposal to honor teachers deadhurt rejected
(MENAFN- Arab News) The Shoura Council has rejected a proposal to honor teachers who die or get injured in accidents while commuting between school and home.
The proposal was placed in the council under the chairmanship of Mohammad bin Ameen Al-Jafri on Monday.
It was recommended that the Ministry of Education coordinate with the Ministry of Civil Service to suggest a mechanism to implement the proposal.
Member Amal Al-Shaman stated that the ministry should take immediate measures to limit as much as possible traffic accidents suffered by female teachers on their way to and from schools. Hanan Al-Ahmady another female member said the recommendation by Al-Jafri was important.
Al-Ahmady cited a report by the traffic department that over 200 buses allocated to transport female teachers in Riyadh region do not meet safety requirements.
