ACT and A Touch of Hope Initiative conclude the Aqaba Volunteering Week

(MENAFNEditorial) Aqaba Container Terminal, the premier maritime gateway into Jordan and the Levant, recently collaborated with "A Touch of Hope" initiative on the launch of the Aqaba Volunteering Week, which took place between the 5th and 10th of March 2015.

The initiative, launched by a group of young innovators from Aqaba, consisted of a number of activities that tackled the fundamental infrastructure of a number of schools, such as painting their exterior walls, creating decorative artistic murals, planting trees within unused spaces on their premises, and organizing awareness sessions for students on positive behaviors related to general hygiene and environmental preservation.

The activities extended to include the Prince Hashem Hospital, where participants conducted field visits to the pediatrics department, distributing gifts to recovering patients and bringing joy to their hearts through their favorite cartoon characters. Participants also visited public service workers in various departments, expressing gratitude for their continued efforts to maintain the city of Aqaba. The week also saw participants spending an entire day at the SOS school for orphans, hosting a lunch with the school's beneficiaries and distributing giveaways to help brighten their day.

Aqaba's visitors also had a share in the week's activities, as participants spent some time at the gates of the city, where they welcomed visitors and offered them essential information on Aqaba as a premium seaside tourism hub. The week concluded at the site of the Great Arab Revolt, where honorary candles were lit under the heading of "Say No To Terrorism," underscoring Jordan's geopolitical security and its peace-oriented culture.
