Ford's European sales up 12.5 percent in Q1

(MENAFN) Ford Motor Co. saw stronger sales in its European business during the first quarter boosted by falling unemployment and cheaper energy prices, Arab News reported.

The US automaker giant said it sold a total of 335,100 vehicles in its traditional European markets, marking an increase of 12.5 percent from the same quarter of last year.

Ford of Europe's vice president of sales said in a statement that the increase is mostly attributed to a recovering economy, not just low interest rates or economic stimulus programs.

"Customers clearly have more money to spend. Whichever way you cut it, it's very clear that there is some strong industry growth in Europe," he added in the statement.
