EU concerned over sale of Russian missiles to Iran

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The EU Tuesday expressed concern over a recent decision by Russia to sell S-300 missiles to Iran but said the move will not affect ongoing talks on Iran's nuclear issue.

"We have noted Russia's decision to deliver S-300 missiles to Iran. This is exactly not new. This has happened in the past already and at that time we had expressed our concern and yet again there is cause for concern over this position," EU spokesperson for foreign and security affairs, Catherine Ray, told a news conference.

"However, at this stage it will not have any effect on the negotiations under way on the Iranian nuclear programme," she clarified.

Ray added that all efforts will be made in the coming weeks on implementation of the frame work agreement reached on 2 April between the G5+1 and Iran in order to reach a deal by end of June.
