UN Envoy: Libyan parties interested in reaching political agreement

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The UN Secretary General's Special Envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon said Tuesday that Libyan parties participating in the second round of dialogue gave a top priority to reach an agreement aiming to restore peace and stability.

In a joint press conference with Algeria's Minister Delegate for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdulkader Messahel, Leon called the swift formation of a national unity government in Libya and a political agreement.

Leon Underlined the necessity of involving all Libyan parties in order to reach a good and balanced solution to the crisis, describing the second round of the dialogue, which concluded in Algiers yesterday, as a "successful and hopeful to reach a political agreement." For his part, Massahel said that his country hopes Libyan parties would reach as soon as possible a consensus agreement to open a new page in Libya.

He underscored the important role of Libya's neighboring countries, saying Algeria is coordinating with other countries to find a political solution to the crisis.

Algeria hosted the first round of the dialogue last March in which Libyan parties agreed to abide by political process and dialogue to pull the country out of its crisis.
