Jordan Prime Minister, Lebanese labor minister discuss ties, region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Tuesday received Lebanon's Minister of Labor Sdjaan Azzi and discussed bilateral ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, they also reviewed the latest regional developments, especially the Syrian crisis and its economic, social and security ramifications as well as the impact of Syrian refugees on the infrastructure of both countries.

The premier voiced Jordan's keenness to forge closer ties with Lebanon, pointing to the striking similarity between the two countries in their quest for openness and democracy.

Ensour said that despite the regional war, Jordan was able to maintain its security and stability.

He also indicated that Jordan had received numerous refugees from Palestine, Iraq and recently from Yemen, Libya and Syria seeking safe haven, noting that the Syrian refugee process in the Kingdom was disciplined in terms of their registration, numbers and date of entry.

The Lebanese official said historic relations link the two countries, and voiced his eagerness to enhance these ties and to unify the stance of the two countries in regional and international forums.

The minister reviewed political developments in the Lebanese arena, and stressed the importance of urging the international community to provide political support to Lebanon in order to preserve its unity.
