Indian MSME Minister urges youth to promote khadi


(MENAFN- KNN India) Laying emphasis on making Khadi designer friendly, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra appealed the youth to join hands to promote Khadi and also to adopt Khadi products in their day to day use.

The minister was addressing the students from various colleges of Delhi University, Indraprastha University among others who had gathered to join the celebration of 60 years of Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan, KVIC here today.

Mishra stressed that Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has been launched to solve the problems of un-employed youth in the country.

The event also highlighted that Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan which had modest sale of Rs 16.95 lacs during 1955-56 has reached a turnover of Rs 72 crores during 2014-15. The Khadi Bhawan also made a record achievement of achieving an increase of 100 per cent net profit over the previous year of Rs 55 lacs profit from the previous year of Rs 27 lacs.

Secretary, Ministry of MSME Madhav Lal, Secretary and Commissioner, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) were also present in the event. (KNN/ST)
