Japanese court orders operator not to restart nuclear reactors

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) The Fukui District Court issued the injunction, prohibiting Kansai Electric Power Co to resume operations of the two units at Takahama

plant on the Sea of Japan coast, 400 kilometres west of Tokyo, due to safety
problem, dpa reported today.

In February, the Nuclear Regulation Authority green-lighted the restart of the two reactors under regulations updated after the 2011 nuclear disaster at Fukushima Daiichi plant.

All of Japan's 48 reactors remain offline following the triple meltdown at Fukushima.

Kyushu Electric Power Co is expected to restart two reactors in July at Sendai nuclear plant near an active volcano in the south-western prefecture of Kagoshima after it received approval from the regulators in September.
