Middle East's M&A transactions hit USD9.5b in Q1

Date:

(MENAFN) Middle East's mergers and acquisition transactions recorded a total of USD9.5 billion in the first quarter of the year, marking less than 50 percent of the sum posted the quarter before, Gulf News reported.

However, on a yearly basis, the sum represented 152 percent leap over the amount that was logged in the corresponding period of 2014, which marked an astounding start since 2012, according to a corporate announcement.

Equity issued by the Middle Eastern reached an overall value of about USD2.5 billion in the first quarter of the year, marking 59 percent decline over the sum that was logged in the previous quarter, according to Reuters.

"M&A will continue to be active and there'll be some interesting outbound deals. Unlike in the past, sovereign wealth funds from the region will look at more return-generating assets such as infrastructure." the chairman of Barclays Plc in the MENA region said.
