Singapore's economy grows 2.1 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) Singapore economy grew by 2.1 percent on an annual basis in the first quarter of 2015, the same rate of growth as that achieved in the previous quarter, Xinhua reported.

On a quarterly seasonally-adjusted annualized basis, Singapore economy expanded at a slower pace of 1.1 percent compared to 4.9 percent in the preceding quarter.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the manufacturing sector contracted at an annualized rate of 2.3 percent, extending the decline of 2.5 percent in the preceding quarter.

Meanwhile, on a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted annualized basis, growth in construction sector accelerated to 13.8 percent, from 2.2 percent in the previous quarter.
