4 Hadi loyalists killed in Yemen's Aden

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Four loyalists of Yemen's embattled President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi were killed Monday in clashes with Houthi militants in the southern Aden city, a medical source has said.

"Four members of the Popular Resistance Committees were killed in clashes with Houthis," the source told The Anadolu Agency.

He said that 80 civilians were also injured in Houthi shelling of different districts in Aden.

No information is yet available about casualties among Houthis.

According to the source, a total of 224 people have been killed since Saudi Arabia and several Arab allies launched a military campaign against the Houthis on March 25.

A total of 1,708 people, mostly civilians, have also been injured during the same period, the source said.

Yemen has remained in turmoil since last September, when the Houthis overran capital Sanaa, from which they have since sought to extend their influence to other parts of the fractious country.

Saudi Arabia says the ongoing anti-Houthi campaign comes in response to Hadi's appeals for military intervention against Houthis.

The Houthis, for their part, denounce the offensive as an unwarranted "Saudi-American onslaught" on Yemen.

Some Gulf States accuse Shiite Iran of supporting Yemen's Houthi insurgency.
