Qatar Foundation for Education signs pact for teacher training workshops

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) is working throughout the year to provide unique training sessions for teachers to encourage professional development and lifelong learning. These workshops are designed to equip educators with the necessary skills and tools to help unlock the potential of their learners.

The Education Development Institute, which falls under QF's pre-university education, is one of the entities that has been tasked with empowering teachers. In line with QF's vision of unlocking human potential, the Foundation has signed an agreement with International Baccalaureate (IB) to provide a series of teacher training workshops at the Education Development Institute.

Widely regarded as one of the most popular education systems in the world, the IB is committed to improving access to an IB education across the Middle East. With 11 schools in Qatar offering one or more of its four programmes, the system is becoming increasingly popular in the region.

As part of the partnership, the Education Development Institute hosted 13 IB sessions in January and last month, and has organised an additional 20 workshops for next year. The workshops are developed and delivered by experienced IB educators from Qatar and around the world, and are carefully evaluated against a strict global quality assurance framework. The seminars are open to teachers from across the country and are taught in both Arabic and English.

Mehdi Benchaabane, IB workshops director at the Education Development Institute, commented on the programme, "We, at the Education Development Institute, are pioneers of life-long learning. Therefore, we endeavour to provide comprehensive training sessions year round that not only encourage continuous professional development, but also foster personal growth."

"The IB professional development workshops help educators gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be an effective teacher. By helping to develop young people who are motivated to succeed, these sessions are ultimately serving as a platform to empower teachers to become leaders within the classroom and unlock the potential of their learners," added Benchaabane.

The training sessions held earlier this year focused on three separate educational programmes - Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme. A number of different topics were discussed over the course of the sessions, including lay-based learning, theory of knowledge, and the role of the co-ordinator.
