Palestinian leader touts Russia's peace efforts


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Visiting Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Monday appreciated the significant role played by Russia to create just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region.

Speaking at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Abbas highly commended Moscow's support for the Palestinian people, inviting Putin to visit Palestine in order to attend the opening of a Russian-aided cultural center.

For his part, the Russian leader hailed the steady development of Russian-Palestinian relations, stressing the importance of ongoing consultations made by both sides over the complicated situation in the Middle East region, Russia's TASS news agency reported.

During their talks, both sides discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian-Israeli track, Yemen, Syria and Iraq, it added.
