(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iraqi and Iranian parliament speakers, Saleem Al-Jabouri and Ali Larijani respectively, discussed over the phone Monday the developments in the region and ways of addressing challenges facing security and stability of the area.
Jabouri received a phone call from larijani and discussed the ways of overcoming numerous challenges facing their countries and the region, a statement by Jabouri's office said.
The two men discussed a proposal to hold a meeting between speakers of the parliaments of Iraq, Iran and Turkey to launch an initiative to stop bloodshed in the region and encourage dialogue, it added.
Jabouri said the Iraqis believed in democracy and political majority, and people should not be sidelines.
