NCP official meets Turkish observers ahead of Sudan polls

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A senior member in Sudan's ruling National Congress Party met Sunday with a delegation of Turkish observers who arrived in the country earlier to monitor the country's polls, due to kick off Monday.

Head of the NCP's political department Mustafa Othman received in his office the delegation dispatched by the Turkish Supreme Election Board (YSK) to observe Sudan's three-day presidential and parliamentary elections, Sudan's state SUNA news agency reported.

During the meeting, the Turkish delegation asserted that it would "report the facts of what would take place during the electoral process in Sudan," the report said.

Up to 13 million Sudanese voters are expected to cast their votes in their country's presidential and parliamentary elections for three days as of Monday.

Some of Sudan's opposition parties said they would boycott the vote.

It is widely believed that inclement President Omar al-Bashir, who has ruled the country for over 25 years, will win the elections, in which he will run against 15 little-known contestants.
