More eateries remain open round the clock in Qatar

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Intense infrastructural development activities coupled with a growing number of workers arriving in the country have led many eateries in Doha to remain open round the clock to cater to those working during the odd hours.

Recently, a new entrant to the restaurant business in a city area announced the opening of a 'night shop' (functioning from midnight to 6am the following day) at his restaurant.

Even medical centres have started working till midnight and the staff at some of such establishments work even beyond that.

Inquiries have found a large number of workers, mainly singles, at such locations as the new Hamad International Airport (HIA), taxi companies, transporting firms, and even construction firms engaged by Doha Metro, are working late at night and even throughout the day to meet their deadlines. "It is such groups that we mainly cater to in the odd hours," said a cafeteria worker.

Although cafeterias and groceries at petrol stations used to remain open throughout the day earlier, more and more outlets are working round the clock these days.

"We were the first in our area to remain open until the early hours of the day, but there are several others in the same place these days that work round the clock," said the manager of a supermarket in Najma.

In Al Attiya market and its surroundings in the Industrial Area many supermarkets and groceries are now open round the clock.
