Drone strike kills 3 rebels in E. Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least three Taliban rebels including a local commander were killed in a drone strike by foreign troops in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan on Sunday, said officials.

Provincial police chief, Abdul Habib Sayedkhili told media that the strike took place early in the morning. The drone targeted the Taliban insurgents who were hidden in Dara-e-Pech district of the province.

There were no civilian casualties in the strike. Earlier on Saturday, ten rebels were killed and eight others wounded during separate clashes and an air strike in southern Ghazni province.

The strikes came at a time when NATO/ISAF forces left Afghanistan handing over the security control to the local Afghan forces in the end of last year.
