Royal Oman Police News: Five arrested for bid to smuggle Arabian leopard


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A team from the Al Mazyona police station has arrested five persons for attempting to smuggle an Arabian leopard caught from Oman's border with Yemen.

They were detained for questioning at the Al Mazyona police station before being handed over to judicial authorities.

Oman is a signatory to the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) that works against cross-border trafficking of endangered species.

Over 2900 packs of banned cigarettes seized in Seeb raids

Police teams carried out raids on three houses in Seeb rented by expats which were being used as a store house for prohibited goods.

As many as 2918 packs of banned cigarettes and 93kg of chewing tobacco were seized and the tenants arrested.
