Omanis expected to flock to Dubai WoodShow 2015


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Many related sectors like the hardwood sector are witnessing higher demand encouraging more foreign importers to explore opportunities in the sultanate.

Dubai: Dubai WoodShow 2015 the region’s top timber and wood machinery show has generated strong interest from Omani visitors in its 10th edition that will be held from April 14 to 16 at the Dubai Word Trade Centre.

Organisers of the show attributed the increased interest to intensified construction activity in the sultanate over the past few years with the construction industry almost doubling the contracts awarded from an estimated $6963 million in 2013 to $12648 million in 2014.

The buoyant construction sector in the Mena region will be one of the factors raising the importance of Dubai WoodShow 2015 a one-stop-shop for interaction betweentraders investors and exporters.

Many related sectors like the hardwood sector are witnessing higher demand encouraging more foreign importers to explore opportunities in the sultanate.

Josine Heijmans exhibition director of Dubai WoodShow 2015 said: “National Vision 2020 in Oman aims at upgrading infrastructure and projecting Oman as an attractive tourist destination. This requires stronger economic performance boosted by higher tourist arrivals and increased foreign direct investment thereby benefiting all the sectors of the economy and primarily its construction sector which in turn will fuel the wood industry.”
