Turkish, Iran FMs to meet in few days


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Turkish authorities said Thursday that Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Iran's counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif will meet in the coming days to discuss efforts to resolve the crisis in Yemen.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgic said in a press conference that Ankara calls on Houthis militia to retreat from areas they occupied, return heavy artillery, recognize the legitimate Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, and start dialogue process.

The spokesman added that the Turkish leader's recent visit to Tehran was to inform Tehran on Ankara's policy in regards to the Yemeni crisis.

In response to a question about the number of Turkish citizens in Yemen Bilgic said that the total number of Turkish nationals currently there are 48, 36 of them located in the capital Sanaa, and 12 others in Aden, noting that the nationals are free to stay or leave the country as they wish.

Recently, Turkey announced support to the Saudi-led "Operation Decisive Storm" and in reviving the legitimacy of the Yemeni government.
